Our annual state-wide participation in various charitable walks, St. Jude Radiothons, food drives, and nursing home adoption projects have earned in excess of $15,000.

2011 Nursing Home Project

In 2011, Desk & Derrick again chose to adopt a local nursing home, Putnam Care & Rehabilitation, located in Teays Valley, WV.

We were given 9 men and 11 women to purchase gifts for.  None of these patients have any family or friends that visit or buy for them, they are wards of the state.  Chris Brewer worked with the Recreation Director, Tracey Adams, to gather a list of items the patients needed or wanted.

With the help of WV Desk & Derrick members and their employers, we were able to purchase over 100 gifts for 20 people!  Everything they asked for plus more was given to them, from sweat pants/shirts to shampoo, lotion and even baby dolls.

We are so proud as a group to be able to sponsor a community service every year during the holidays. 

IOGA of WV held it's first IOGA Day at the WV Legislature in 2011. As part of this day, our members went a spoke with State Senators and Representatives. WVDDC's booth provided the public with information on membership, scholarships and the value of the ADDC. Manning our booth were Nicole Alt, Maggi Franks, Melinda Johnson and Annie Perdue. Many members were also on hand.
